Usage Terms

This website operates as a compliance enablement portal, serving as the public-facing interface of C-AO.com’s business sub-service organisation.

In addition to these Usage Terms, any user who becomes a CIAO member, partner, or contributor is bound by the CIAO Code of Practice. The Code of Practice sets out ethical and operational standards of conduct, including professional behavior, contribution requirements, and sanctions for violations. By accepting membership or contributing to CIAO, the user agrees to comply with both this Usage Terms agreement and the CIAO Code of Practice. In the event of conflict, the Usage Terms govern legal rights and obligations, while the Code of Practice governs ethical and operational conduct.

Content Protection

Technical Protection Measures This site employs technical protection measures (TPMs) to safeguard its content. These include browser-level access controls, proprietary typographic rendering, and embedded content identification systems. Circumventing, removing, or disabling any technical protection measure is strictly prohibited and may constitute an offence under applicable intellectual property and computer misuse legislation. Prohibited Activities The following activities are expressly prohibited without prior written authorisation from C-AO.com:
— Automated scraping, crawling, or systematic downloading of any site content
— Reproduction or republication of any content in whole or in part on any external platform
— Removal or alteration of any copyright, licence, or attribution notice
— Use of any content to train, fine-tune, or develop artificial intelligence models
— Any attempt to extract, reverse-engineer, or replicate the CIAO governance architecture

Access as Acceptance Access to any content on this site — including Commons tier content — constitutes acceptance of these Usage Terms in full. Access to Core, Essential, Professional, Enterprise, or Conglomerate tier content additionally constitutes acceptance of the applicable Member Licence Agreement. No separate signature is required.

Content Identification All content served on this site carries embedded identification markers. C-AO.com reserves the right to identify the source of any unauthorised reproduction and to pursue appropriate remedies.

Site and Subscribed Data Usage

Membership Access Content usage is governed by your subscribed membership tier, which may include Commons, Core, Essential, Professional, Enterprise, or Conglomerate levels.

Data Scope The site does not contain Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Uploading PII is strictly prohibited for public users, subscribed Members, and official Partners.

Regulatory Position As the site does not process private data, its authorized content does not fall under private data processing agreements or related regulatory frameworks.

Data Control and Infrastructure By using this site’s data, you acknowledge and accept that:

Version Updates Significant site or content updates, at the discretion of C-AO.com management, will be communicated via site notices.

Membership

Organisation Representatives may subscribe to C-AO.com memberships. Currently, C-AO.com offers a Commons, Core, Essential, Professional, Enterprise, and a Conglomerate Membership subscriptions.

Members represent their respective organisations. Only validly subscribed Member Organisations may use the C-AO Member Logo on their respective websites, email signatures, and respective company documents.

Membership is paid annually in advance, non-payment with or without notice implies intention to cease membership. Please pay in advance of expiry dates to avoid termination of services. There is a 30 day grace period before termination of services is finalised. If request to continue membership is made during the grace period, then the annual membership fee must be paid in full, including a month in arrears for the grace period.

Partnership

Organisations may partner with C-AO.com. Currently, C-AO.com has Continental Partners and Regional Partners only. These Partners represents C-AO.com as sub-service organisations in the provision of services to their continent and region respectively. To register as a Regional Partner please contact C-AO.com.

Partners are required to complete the C-AO.com onboarding process which includes, but not limited to; a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), Partnership Agreement, and a Data Processing Agreement (DPA).

Only officially registered C-AO.com Partners can use the C-AO Partner Logo on their respective websites, email signatures, and respective company documents.

Except for validly subscribed Member organisations and official Partner organisations agreements, the C-AO logo, and any associated trademarks, service marks, and logos, may not be used or reproduced in any form without express written authorisation from C-AO.com.

Licence Architecture

The CIAO Standard operates under a layered intellectual property framework governing all content from Commons through Conglomerate tiers — including open licences for standard content, restricted licences for architectural frameworks and methodologies, and proprietary licences for Enterprise and Conglomerate tier content.
