The official applied training programme of the CIAO Standard
Lead information and AI governance at the executive level — taught through the CIAO Standard’s own operating model: the CAO domains, the tier ladder, and the Dynamic Selection Engine for harmonising obligations across multiple frameworks. Delivered 100% online.
1. Who this is for
Senior managers, executives, and legal, compliance, risk and data-protection leads responsible for governing information and AI at the organisational level. No formal qualification is required — the Masterclass assumes professional working experience in a governance, compliance, risk, legal, audit, or information-management role.
2. What you will learn
Over approximately 15 hours of on-demand modules and live online clinics, you will learn to map an organisation onto the CIAO tier ladder, harmonise multi-framework obligations into a single control set, govern AI systems for ethics, accountability and transparency, and lead board-level oversight and assurance.
3. The programme
Six structured modules taught through the CIAO Standard’s domain architecture, culminating in a capstone governance artefact.
- Module 1 — Foundations of Governance Meta-Standards. The fragmentation problem, the five-layer governance architecture, and what a meta-standard is and is not.
- Module 2 — The Domain Architecture and Content Ladder. The nine CAO domains, the Manual-to-artefact content ladder, and the three aggregate lenses (policy, control, information).
- Module 3 — Multi-Framework Harmonisation in Practice. Mapping overlapping obligations across ISO 27001, NIST CSF, GDPR, POPIA and SOC 2 into one control set, and working the Dynamic Selection Engine.
- Module 4 — AI Governance, Ethics and Accountability. Governing AI across design and operational phases — risk, ethics, transparency, accountability, bias and explainability.
- Module 5 — Board-Level Oversight, Assurance and the Governance Lifecycle. The assurance lifecycle, governance-body design, and a board-level reporting cadence for continuous assurance.
- Module 6 — Implementation and the Maturity Journey. Mapping an organisation onto the maturity ladder and building a single evidence base that satisfies many frameworks at once.
- Capstone — Applied Governance Artefact. Produce a harmonised multi-framework control register and governance posture statement for an organisation of your choice.
4. How the annual cohort works
The Masterclass runs once a year, with the live cohort held in the first week of December. Enrolment opens well in advance, and the earlier you register, the longer your access to the course materials — access begins the moment you enrol. Registration closes one week before the cohort begins, so every participant has time to prepare. All access runs until 15 December, when the annual cohort concludes.
5. Assessment and certification
Each module closes with a short knowledge check. The capstone artefact is the summative assessment, marked against a published rubric for harmonisation accuracy, framework coverage, governance design, and clarity. On satisfactory completion you receive a Certificate of Completion.
6. Investment and what is included
€499. Includes full course access, live clinics, assessment, a Certificate of Completion, a grandfathering pathway toward the forthcoming CIAO Standard Practitioner programme, and permanent Founding-Cohort recognition.
Delivered 100% online to an international cohort. Enrolment is open now; your place is confirmed on payment. Early registrants gain access to the materials as soon as they enrol; the live cohort runs in the first week of December and all access closes on 15 December. Registration closes one week before the cohort begins. Refunds are available up to the registration close.
This Masterclass leads to a Certificate of Completion — a professional training credential. It is recognised toward the forthcoming CIAO Standard Practitioner programme and does not, in itself, constitute professional certification or accreditation.
